Tomato Rasam

Rasam Recipe - Quick & Easy South Indian Recipe

Rasam

Tomato Rasam is soup like dish which is an integral part of South Indian food. It is very easy to prepare.

Ingredients:
2 tomatoes very finely chopped
2 green chillies chopped
1 medium size onion chopped finely
5-6 curry leaves
1/2 tsp mustard seeds
1/2 tsp cumin seeds
1/2 tsp black pepper powder
1/2 tsp ginger-garlic paste
1 1/2 cup water
3 tbsps oil
chopped coriander(cilantro) leaves
salt to taste

Method:
1) Heat oil and when it is hot, add mustard seeds. When the mustard seeds splutter, add cumin seeds, curry leaves and chopped onion and stir well.
2)When the onion becomes translucent, add green chillies, ginger garlic paste, salt and pepper powder to it. Mix them well.
3) Now add chopped onions and keep stirring till the tomatoes become soft.
4) Now add water and let it boil for while.
5) Remove from heat and add chopped coriander(cilantro) leaves for garnishing
6) Serve with plain rice.
